Apple Shortcuts

Apple guide

    Open Shortcuts, tap Automation, then tap + or New Automation.

  2. 2

    Choose NFC, tap Scan, and hold the top of your iPhone near your Tapling. Give it a name.

  3. 3

    Choose what should happen: open an app, start a timer, append to a note, send a message, or combine several actions.

  4. 4

    Choose Run Immediately (or turn off Ask Before Running on older versions), then save and test.

  5. 5

    If your shortcut asks for permission the first time it runs, approve the actions you want it to complete, then tap again to test the finished routine.

Modes and Routines

Samsung guide

    Open Modes and Routines, choose Routines, and tap +.

  2. 2

    Under If, choose NFC tag, then scan and name your Tapling.

  3. 3

    Under Then, add the action—or several actions—you want it to run.

  4. 4

    Tap Save, then test with NFC turned on and your phone unlocked.

  5. 5

    If your routine asks for permission the first time it runs, approve the actions you chose, then tap again to test the finished routine.

MacroDroid

MacroDroid
  1. 1

    Install MacroDroid and tap Add Macro.

  2. 2

    Under Triggers, tap +Device EventsNFC TagWrite New Tag.

  3. 3

    Name your Tapling, then hold it near your phone when MacroDroid asks you to write the tag.

  4. 4

    Under Actions, tap + and choose what your phone should do. Approve only the permissions it needs.

  5. 5

    Add optional constraints, save, and tap your Tapling to test.

Before you begin

Keep your Tapling close by.

Your phone will ask you to scan or write the Tapling while you create the automation. Wait for that prompt—there is no separate programming step to complete first.
